I’ve wanted to redesign my company site for a while now… so, I finally did.
One of my favorite Saturday morning ‘rituals’ is to go out for a long(ish) run with my ipod set on the “worship” playlist. This morning when it got to “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” I kept pulling the ipod off my hip & replaying the following:
Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be;
Let that grace now like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it;
Prone to leave the God I love.
Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
Now THAT is music for my soul. I think i used to hear “daily I’m constrained to be” & thought in relation to thanksgiving for what God had done in my initial salvation/justification. I’m realizing now, I’m constrained to His grace to ‘daily’ keep my heart close to His….continual salvation/sanctification.
Thursday I logged my 100th mile since January on Nike+. The website makes a big deal out of it, sending you a “certificate” that you can print out….that was fun, though printing it out seems like a silly idea.
In related news I’ve come to a decision on the 2009 Disney Marathon. After much reflection on motivation and time available I’ve decided that this will not be a good year for a marathon. Primarily due to the fact that I have “knee issues” so in order to run significant weekly miles I have to do A LOT of strength training for my legs & stretching. to add 45min. of that on top of the time for running leaves me pretty hard-pressed & I’ve decided it’s not worth a 5am wake-up call at this point in my life. Plus i think i was just trying to be ‘cool’. Oh well, such is life. I’d like to do one eventually. Perhaps sometime in the vague, “when the kids are older”.
In un-related news: Speaking of ‘cool’. A friend from college visited yesterday (that was lots of fun, thanks Jen!) and I walked in on the tail-end of a conversation she and ryan were having. She said, “…i think he was comfortable because ya’ll are cool and normal”. Ryan & I both got a nice chuckle out of that one. A double-whammy. Cool AND Normal! ….pretty sure we’re not either of those, but we’re apparently good at the facade.
speaking of running, I intended to head out for a jog 20min. ago….
It was required that I “look up on the computer” the difference between the Allosaurus and the T-rex right now. Here’s what Google had to say: the allosaurus had 3 fingers while the t-rex had 2. The t-rex was also bigger & depending on what you believe about the age of the earth, the Allosaurus lived in an earlier time period.
Due to Asher’s inability to read & obsession with dinosaurs, I know more about dinosaurs than i ever thought was possible for me. Anyone else spend their afternoons reading dinosaur encyclopedias?
