A Blender to Make Eggs and Ice Cream

I had a discussion the other day with my office mate about the Vitamix blender and I mentioned that not only did it make amazing smoothies, but it makes scrambled eggs and ice cream. And by makes, I mean it does it in the blender. To dispel any disbelief, we headed to youtube and watched the following two videos. Thought I’d share with you so that you can see the wonder of blender eggs and ice cream.

  1. We have a Vitamix, and my mom used to make ice cream in it all the time when I was little. She used to sneak cabbage in it. =/ Yes, it was green.

  2. FYI: I tried the eggs just for the heck of it this morning. It took 2 tries, since I couldn’t find a recipe anywhere w/how many eggs & how much milk. 1st try made an unflavored egg nog basically, and overflowed.

2nd try worked (very very soft eggs), BUT: it has cooked onto the blades & I’m having a terrible time getting it cleaned. Not to mention it’s probably not the healthiest way to cook eggs, since w/that amount of spinning (5 minutes) it’s probably homogenizing it and I’m pretty anti-homogenization w/fats. It does bad stuff w/cholesterol (how’s that for scientific?). That being said, next christmas time you better believe i’m going to use it to make eggnog! That was super creamy & yummy looking. ;)

Other than that: I’ve been LOVING this machine! I use it 1-3x daily.
