Raising the white flag

Why is it so impossible to find good natural bbq sauce?

My hypothesis:
8 words: High Fructose Corn Syrup and Artificial Smoke Flavor.

Sometimes it’s just hard to compete with that. I haven’t tried to find one (natural or homemade sauce that is) in a long time, but everytime i squeeze out the HFCS goo, I think about it.

Yes, I know I have a problem.

  1. I have a great recipe. We really wanted BBQ chicken one night, and I didn’t have any store bought sauce. Then I thought, “How hard could it be to make?” So I looked in my trusty BHG cookbook, found a recipe, and tried it. It was SO yummy! And super easy. I’ll email you the recipe if you’re interested, and you can doctor it up however you like.

  2. That’s true. You can make pretty good bbq sauce at home.

I feel like my mom found some recently that was pretty good and normal (I found some super sweet stuff at whole foods that I loved at first…). I’ll have to ask her. I was excited when I started seeing store brand ketchup without HFCS… bbq should catch up sooner or later, right?

Also, I wanted to let you know that I’ve decided to go poo-free. I got a haircut and thought I hated it until a few days passed and then it was cute… and I’m realizing that my hair just doesn’t like being “clean”–at least the popular sense of clean these days. I used baking soda and apple cider vinegar last night and am pretty pleased with the results today. Haven’t had a chance to have someone smell my head though…=)
